De 22-jarige Beytullah Cengiz uit Heusden won onlangs de fotowedstrijd ‘Ik luister naar Istanbul’ over de stad aan de Bosporus. De opdracht was om een beeld van Istanbul weer te geven met creativiteit en luistervaardigheid als uitgangspunt. De resultaten van deze fotowedstrijd zijn te zien tijdens de derde editie van Istanbul Ekspres (van 2 tot 10 december) in Gent.
Cengiz, student ICT aan de Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg, werd verkozen uit 120 deelnemers. De prijs kwam als een echte verassing voor hem. “Ik heb dit te danken aan mijn leraar Hasan Bayram van Fotoclub Studio East die mij aanraadde om deel te nemen aan de wedstrijd. Zonder hem had ik waarschijnlijk zelfs niet meegedaan.â€
